The evening opened with the former PWP Champion, Hype Gotti, who demanded "Babyface" Tony Cortez come out and give him a rematch for the PWP Title. Cortez came out, and said that he would defend his title tonight, but not against Hype. He said he would pick his own opponent, choosing "The Golden Boy" Vic Victory. He also said he had an opponent for Hype - a man from Hype's past. Someone who Hype had a vicious war with some 3 1/2 years ago, and who still wanted to rip Hype apart, that man was none other than Damien Van Horn.
Hype Gotti was able to pick up a quick upset victory over the returning big man, with a sunset flip off the top. It should be noted that Adrenne Rose made her way to ringside for this matchup. Why? That remains to be seen.
Joey Daniels was victorious in a 3 way dance over Mr. Jones and Ricky Reynolds. Joey won with a top rope leg drop onto both men.
"Captain Zac Sparrow" (Zac James) picked up a very impressive win over Chris Havius w/ Adrenne Rose. This was one of the original PWP rivalries reborn, between two men who know each other very well. In the end, Zac countered Havius' crucifix bomb into a sunset flip roll-up for the win. Afterwards, a furious Havius promised that things would be getting much "darker" around here.
Next we saw the debut of Donnie's Dance Party. The name says it all, as the fans were invited to join Mr. Peppercricket in the ring to dance. Everyone was having a great time, until the party was spoiled by Abu Collosus. These two giants went toe to toe, but in the end, the mighty Abu choked out the lovable Peppercricket, continuing his dominate roll.
"Sensational" Sean Cruz picked up an awesome victory over Jaysin Strife in an epic battle, that went near 30 minutes. In the end, Strife went high risk, with a beautiful Shooting Star Press, that did not pay off, as Cruz was able to get out of the way, then cover Strife for the pin. The two men showed respect for one another after this amazing contest with a handshake.
In the main event, "Babyface" Tony Cortez was able to retain his title against "The Golden Boy" Vic Victory - although it was not easy. Cortez seemed to underestimate The Golden Boy, as many often do, however, Vic fought as hard as he ever has, and came VERY close to winning the belt. The match saw interference from both Hype Gotti and Damien Van Horn, but in the end, Babyface remained champion, taunting his former partner and best friend, Hype Gotti, all the way to the back.
Pro Wrestling Phoenix will return to action on Saturday November 18th, details will be forthcoming in the near future.
