IWA Mid-South and ACW proudly presented "Sunday Bloody Sunday" in San Antonio, Texas for our debut in the great state of Texas on this co-promoted show. A lively crowd of 200 people chose this show over the San Antonio Spurs home playoff game up the street and the huge Fiesta festival that draws around 100,000 every year that was going on during the day. It made for a successful debut and we will be returning to San Antonio on Sunday night, August 18th!
Ian Rotten started the show by delivering bad news to the crowd. Homicide's mother had a stroke so he was unable to make it to the show tonight. We extend our prayers to Homicide and his family and wish his mother well. We hope that our fans will do the same. Afterwards, Ian informed the crowd that replacing Homicide in the match against the Necro Butcher would be San Antonio's native Masada! The crowd chanted for Masada and the anticipation was abuzz due to the out and out hatred that these two men have for each other stemming from Necro's last tour in Big Japan.
The opening match was then ready to go.
1). "One Man" Mike Dell def. xOMGx
Dell ripped on xOMGx for having a stupid name. Jim Fannin on commentary then ripped on Dell for having the stupidest nickname that he had ever seen. Dell was pissed about not being in a match for the ACW light heavyweight title and that he was going to take it out on xOMGx. Dell got the victory with the "One Timer" suplex.
2). Showtime Scott Summers def. Joey Ryan to retain the ACW heavyweight title
Josh Abercrombie was unable to make his connecting flight to San Antonio so Joey Ryan was looking for an opponent. Ryan was upset that his original match was supposed to be for the IWA light heavyweight title and was angry when Josh got beat by Brandon making it no longer for the title. He was then livid when Josh couldn't make it and Showtime did not have an opponent and was more than happy to put up his title.
3). Mickie Knuckles defeated Daffney to retain IWA Women's title
Mickie was busted wide open in this match when she went head first into the ringpost on a splash attempt in the corner. Daffney put up a great fight against Mickie and almost choked her out by smothering her in between her surgically enhanced breasts. Mickie retaliated by grabbing both breasts and bealing Daffney out of the corner. Mickie delivered a brutal headbutt and went for the Shining kick but Daffney had just enough to slightly duck so Mickie being a good sport just rolled her up for the victory. Ian said what a great wrestler that Daffney was and that anybody that viewed her simply as a valet was missing out on a true talent.
4). Roderick Strong def. "Biohazard" Jakus Plisken
Davey Richards was stuck in Europe due to the promotion over there getting him the wrong ticket and forcing Davey to stay an extra week in between shows. "Biohazard" was more than willing to take Davey's place and have an opportunity to make a huge splash on the wrestling world. Roderick was up to the challenge however and got the victory with a backbreaker in a tightly contested battle.
5). "Extreme Bulldog" Rexx Reed def. Massive
This was a very good battle between two super heavyweights. Massive was a massive 325 pounder with great agility for a big man. He was unable to defeat Reed however who was able to pick Massive up with a DVD and got the pinfall.
6). Low Ki def. Hotstuff Hernandez
Low Ki was dominated by Hotstuff for the majority of this match. The crowd didn't know who to cheer for as they loved both guys but I think Hotstuff being local got the slight majority of the cheers. The crowd chanted "This is Awesome" at least 5 different times throughout the match as these two just beat the crap out of each other with chops and kicks and Hotstuff using his size and strength to toss Ki around like a rag doll. Low Ki was able to pull out of the victory after a John Woo Kick and a double stomp and some vicious kicks to turn the tide to his favor. The crowd gave a long standing ovation and chanted "That was awesome" for both guys afterwards.
7). Necro Butcher defeated Masada
Masada may have been the most popular guy on the show tonight as it was his hometown and the crowd definitely favored him over Necro which was so weird to see at an IWA show. These two men legitimately despise each other due to something that happened on the last tour of Big Japan that both men were on together. Masada blasted Necro directly in the face with the sickest punch I have ever seen when they started duking it out and dropped Necro. Necro's lip, cheek and under his eye were so severely lacerated from that punch that he had to go to the hospital after the match and get 18 stitches to close it. Necro won with a school boy after Hotstuff Hernandez came to the ringside area causing both men to get distracted after beating the hell out of each other for 15 minutes.
As soon as Necro got the pinfall, Hotstuff hit the ring and started beating on Necro. Necro was originally going to face Homicide who is Hernandez's partner and there is the tag match coming up at the Arena in Philly with Ki/Cide vs. Toby & Necro so perhaps he was wanting to weaken Necro for Homicide. Low Ki came out and stared down Hotstuff. It seemed like he had a respect for Necro after their two hard fought matches but then Low Ki turns around and kicks Necro right in the face after he was already gushing blood from his face due to the punch from Masada. Hernandez and Ki double team Necro until finally Masada chases them off to save Necro! The two hardcore guys show a sign of respect after settling their differences through fisticuffs and show respect for each other.
8). Main Event - 4 Team Elimination Hardcore battle for the ACW Tag Team Titles - Children Of Pain retain the titles by defeating Old & Younger, Naptown Dragons & Chuie Martinez/Hugh Rogue
Mickie Knuckles joins Jim Fannin & David Parks for commentary on this match and it was just an all out war all over the building. Drake Younger & Ian Rotten get the pinfall on Vortekz & Diehard and are announced as the new ACW tag team champions. Drake gets on the microphone and says that he doesn't want the show to end this way that he wants to beat everyone so he makes it an elimination match. Ian Rotten is visibly upset that Drake would do that but reluctantly agrees. The match continues and the mayhem continues. Light tubes, barbed wire tennis rackets, bats, chairs and everything else comes into play. They brawl all over the bar. Darin Childs sets up two eight foot tables side by side by the gimmick tables and then him and Chuie Martinez fight up the steps and onto the balcony. They then climb out onto the ledge fighting and Childs delivers a Diamond Cutter off the balcony through the two tables on Martinez and pins him. Jacob Ladder then gets a pinfall over Ian Rotten after a tombstone piledriver onto a box of light tubes for the Children of Pain to retain the tag titles.
Ian Rotten was even more upset with Drake Younger after the match since they were no longer the tag champs due to Drake extending the match. This may not bode well for the team of Old & Younger as they prepare to do battle with Six Feet Under in Plainfield in a few weeks.
