For the first match of the night it was X-Con taking on the "Hometown Hero" John Douglas. Sadly for the local legend it went down exactly as I predicted. X-Con is a man on a mission, and that mission is to run rough-shod over everyone that stands between him and his potential World Title shot at Slamfest. X-Con made short work of Douglas, in the end proving to be just too big, too mean, and too powerful for his opponent to overcome.
In the second match of the night it was action between Black Iron w/ Trevor Blanchard, and Jimmy Blaze w/ Joey Cece. There was excellent back and forth exchanges between the two men, but as is always the case with the M.O.B. it was all about the numbers game as Black Iron hits his leg drop, and then the sick and twisted mind of Iron, and the wily evil mind of Blanchard get on the same page, and Iron scores the pinfall with Blanchard holding his arms for leverage. Unfortunately for Blaze I think the prospect of removing Iron's mask and finding out once and for all who is under there proved to be just too much of a distraction, and paired with the cheat tactics by M.O.B. ... well, you get the idea.
Up next was the return of the Future Stars to tag action, with their "Mystery Woman" in tow. But there's at least a little less mystery to her, as Kanoa revealed her real name to the crowd, telling Mr. Ricolo to refer to her as Melanie. Wild Mayhem came out next without Justin James at their side. Future Stars had not lost a step since the last time they teamed up in the squared circle, but Wild Mayhem has also been stepping up a notch with their heated battles with Pure Evil, and most recently American History Next, and they were not going to be push-overs for the former Tag Champs. In the end,it was a Wild Mayhem victory when with Cairo on the outside, Kanoa caught Matt Mayhem as he attempted a crossbody, but when Mikey Wild dropkicked his own partner while he was still in Kanoa's arms, the two men fell hard to the canvas, and Mayhem just happened to land on top and get the 3 count.
The M.O.B./O.C. feud continued as this time it was Trevor Blanchard and Joey Cece going one on one. Joey endured amazing abuse to the lower back at the hands of Blanchard, but still managed with crowd support and the cheering on from his partner Blaze, to rally enough strength to hit the Pitbull Slam on Blanchard for the pin. But as the ref was beginning the count, Black Iron pulled the ref from the ring, causing Blaze to spring to action and clear Black Iron out of the way, allowing Joey to hit a spear on Blanchard, and bring the score to one and one for the night between the two teams.
The 5th match of the night was full of surprises as it was scheduled to be Pure Evil taking on the team of Jamie Dundee and Thunderfoot, but Foot was missing in action, speculated by many to be due to foul play on the parts of Pure Evil. So Jamie decided he would take on both men by himself. Deputy Commish Ruff Crossing had some ideas of his own however as he made his way to the ring and told Dundee, either find a partner, or forfeit the match. Dundee still figured he could pull it off on his own, but if he needed a partner, then a partner he would get- choosing none other than POWW Referee Pee Wee Parella to stand with him. Ruff Crossing said if Pee Wee was in the match, then HE would be the special guest referee, and the match was made. Things started good for the team of Dundee and Pee Wee, With both men causing Pure Evil a great deal of stress keeping them off balance and capitalizing on numerous miscalculations. But Spade and Dehok regrouped, regained their balance, and soon it was basically a 2 on 1 assault on Dundee as he was isolated away from his corner and worked over. But one opening came about, and Dundee went right for it, tagging in Pee Wee, with both men hitting tandem drop kicks, followed by Pee Wee hitting a splash for the pin. Ruff Crossing to congratulate Pee Wee gave him the rest of the night off, which meant Crossing would continue to referee for the final match, the POWW Royal, where the last two men in the ring would earn themselves a title shot at the next show in Dubuque Iowa.
The action was fast and furious in the Royal, as every man in the ring wanted the win, but there was also the dynamic of all of the team in the royal, who would've loved to get the title shot together.
It was not to be however, as your final two men in the ring were X-Con and Jamie Dundee after Con clotheslined both members of Wild Mayhem over the top rope, and Dundee threw Spade down to the ground. Outta Control came out to address their possible future opponents should O.C. manage to hang onto the belts past Slamfest. X-con berated the men in Outta Control talking about how he was going to beat Terry Allen at Slamfest, while Dundee showed his respect for 'most' every man in the ring. Except his new partner. Dundee told X-con exactly how he felt about him, by nailing him with a stunner as the show drew to a close.
