What a turnout for the VWAA at the Don Preston Center! First off, we have to thank all that came out to join us. Awesome crowd!
The night started off with applause for the introduction of our Time Keeper, Lady C, and then thunderous boos for referee Bobby J. I don’t think I’ve seen a referee get so much heat for simply walking to the ring before. First up was the VWAA Women’s Title match. The undisputed Women’s champion, Kimberly Kash, was pitted against Mia Martinez in a rematch from Orland Park. These two continue to impress the crowd. They attacked each other with relentless aggression from the sound of the bell. Whoever thought these two women gave all they had the first time, needed to witness this rematch. Although Kimberly Kash was able to earn a check in the VWAA record book with a win via submission, it was very clear that Martinez is going to continue to be a tough competitor in Kash’s future.
The Urban Gladiator, Trauma and Machine was up next. This is being dubbed another VWAA tough man contest by many of the VWAA fans. Both men are similar in strength and size, so from the start, it was difficult to determine who would have the edge. Their respective managers, Studd Muffin and Ratt J Flywheel were civil enough to each other to at least stay out of one another’s way, and surprisingly, the interferences were kept minimal. A couple of steel chairs did find their way into the ring, and I’m sure no one in the building thought these two behemoths would use them the way they did. It came down to the irresistible force meeting the immovable object in the end, and Machine scored the pin over Trauma.
Where to begin? The eight man elimination tag team match up was utter insanity. There is NO way possible to effectively describe the goings on in this contest. One team had Jordan Pryde, Isaias Velazquez, Ovirload and The Amazin Kuan while their opponents were Lamar Titan, Thomas Sinclair, The Arabian Death Dealer and Samuray Del Sol. To make this match all the more interesting, Isaias proclaimed, after a long, whining promo from ADD, that if any member of the opposing team could pin Velazquez, they would earn a Circuit Title shot against him at the VWAA’s March 8th show at the Industrial Studio. The match lasted thirty minutes and was action packed every second of it, but it was a decoy injury that caused the final eliminating pin on Isaias by The Arabian Death Dealer.
After intermission, the VWAA announced that at The Don Preston Center on May 3rd, they would be launching another main event annual show for the company that they are claiming to be their biggest show of the year, MANIFEST DESTINY. To celebrate this announcement, Frankie Valiant had a special “preachin” segment that announced the first signed match for the event. It would be a match for the VWAA Hardcore Kingship, and thus, Valiant introduced the current champion, Juggalo J-City. After a few words back and forth, Valiant introduced J-City’s opponent for Manifest Destiny which the Juggalo from the Dark Carnival surely, never saw coming. Details on this will be on an upcoming Vanguard Online.
A special challenge came the way of Baltazar, by Studd Muffin, and was a gauntlet match. Studd proclaimed that Baltazar would have to face three VWAA talents sequentially for the night. Balt’s first opponent was The Wishmaster, Zygo who quite literally did not display one single offensive move. Then came The Indian Juggernaut, Tunica. All Tunica’s strength and heart did little against Baltazar’s immense size and strength and Tunica fell short of victory. Finally, Baltazar was at the last opponent. It was apparent that Studd Muffin had intended Baltazar’s first two opponents as victims to tenderize Balt’s stamina. Through the entry came a specially hand-picked opponent for Baltazar with the name Flawless Dave Allen. Although Allen did not match size or strength with Balt, it was clear that his wrestling talent would get him through the bout. Allen controlled most of the match and had Baltazar stupefied, but in the end, it was The Unholy One that would prevail via submission with his Death Coil.
Whether you like him, or hate him, Mitch Blake is a talented wrestler and interesting VWAA personality. It has never been established whether The Furies are fan favorites or the preverbal heels, but it was apparent that Blake was in the ring with a bad attitude and disdain toward the fans who in turn let him know he was certainly not their favorite, rather it was Blake’s mystery opponent, who was actually signed and brought in to the VWAA by Johnny Wild, who garnered all the fan’s respect and cheers. Mike Masters made it clear in the locker room that he did not wish to deal with the likes of Johnny Wild and refused the managerial service of the Wild One as a result. The match itself was epic. Somehow, even Sweet Cheeks and Alpha Bitz found their way into the match, but it was an assist from a certain Brawn The Lumberjack after both Masters and Blake were rendered unconscious that helped Masters get the pin over Blake.
The main event. Four of the toughest VWAA wrestlers, Akuma, Rick Walsh, Atlas and Ivan Manson, were involved all wanting what Ivan Manson possessed, the VWAA Championship. The contract for this match was signed and sealed before press was able to learn the identity of the fourth opponent which turned out to be none other than the returning Demon of Damen himself, Atlas. Atlas had been away for months due to an attack from the VIP Family but returned in big fashion to challenge for Manson’s VWAA Championship. However, all the opponents in this match were title hungry and wanted to strip Ivan of his title. VWAA head referee Steve Cain had his plate full on this one, and at moments, lost control long enough for steel chairs to fly and questionable tactics to reign, but Manson stepped up his game for this one and even took to flight off the top turnbuckle to attack the mass of humanity on the arena floor below. Manson did secure the victory for the match as Rick Walsh and Atlas battled on the outside of the ring, Manson hit Akuma with the Manson Stunner.
