Match 1 - The Shnogg VS JT Simmons
WWA's first show of 2008 kicked off with the conclusion of one of the strangest feuds in the company's history, as The Shnogg and JT Simmons battled in a match where the loser would be forced to eat dog food!
As the match began, Simmons was obviously in no hurry to get into the ring, but once he was cornered, Simmons shocked WWA fans with some sound wrestling skills, perhaps a dividend from his new alliance with the Urban Freebirds. In the end, however, The Shnogg was able to hit a beautiful slingshot suplex for the win.
WINNER - The Shnogg via Pinfall
After the match, it took the threat of losing his paid bar tab at the Flamingo Lounge to draw Simmons back to ringside, where his rival was all too happy to empty a can of Alpo Extra-Chunky on his face!
Match 2 - Rion Skillz VS Roach
Looking to put an end to the frustration and hard feelings being harbored by Skillz, Roach requested a match to settle things once and for all. The WWA fans were vocal in supporting both men in the match, but it was Rion who would take control early on, grounding the "Aerial Assassin" and focusing his assault on Roach's knee.
Just as it looked like Skillz had victory in his grasp, Roach capitalized on a single mistake in Rion's attack and pinned his partner.
WINNER - Roach via Pinfall
Following the match, Roach took the mic and pointed out to Rion that in the ring, they bring out the best in each other, and if they could re-capture that drive, they could finally topple The Urban Freebirds for the WWA Tag Team Titles. After a few moments of thought, Rion accepted his partner's handshake. Rion Skillz and Roach are back!
Match 3 - Syn VS Shamus Sly McDuff VS Angus McDuff VS Chris Hamilton
This was the "Four Man Frenzy" match to determine the #1 Contender to the WWA Championship. It was also the return of Syn to competition, coming off of injuries suffered last summer, not to mention the opportunity for Angus and Shamus McDuff to potentially reclaim the title they have not yet received rematches for. And for dark horse Chris Hamilton, it was a chance to shine against three of WWA's top wrestlers.
After an initial show of respect amongst the group, the action came hard and fast, highlighted by a spectacular triple decker superplex that left all four competitors down. In the end, amidst the chaos of everyone firing off huge impact moves, Syn managed to nail Shamus with the Snake-Bite for the win.
WINNER & #1 CONTENDER - Syn via Pinfall
Match 4 - Mephisto VS Mad Man Pondo Wicked Hardcore Title Match
It was time for the rematch that everyone in Wicked Wrestling had been simultaneously anticipating and dreading, as Mephisto looked to regain his Hardcore Title from Mad Man Pondo, who defeated him in the now-legendary "Halloween Horror Deathmatch" at our last show.
Fans expected blood and brutality were not disappointed, as both wrestlers busted each other open quickly, using a variety of weapons including several dollar bills stapled to various body parts. To the shock of many, however, Mephisto managed to pull out an Emerald Fusion Driver on Pondo (on a barbed-wire wrapped steel chair!!) for the three-count.
WINNER & NEW WICKED HARDCORE CHAMPION - Mephisto via Pinfall
Match 5 - The Kent Boys VS The Philadelphia Sex Machines VS The Urban Freebirds Triple Threat Match for the WWA Tag Team Titles
After another inconclusive ending to their #1 Contenders match at our last show, WWA Manager Melissa Storm decided that both teams would challenge for the gold, ensuring that the dominant champions would face their biggest threat so far.
Shockingly, the Kents and the PSM's managed to briefly put aside their own feud in order to concentrate on neutralizing the strength and brute force of The Urban Freebirds. However, the spark of being Tag Team Champions soon reignited that flame, and the two teams were back at each other, allowing Willie Da Bomb and Trauma to pick up the pieces and retain the titles.
WINNERS & STILL WWA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS - The Urban Freebirds via Double Pinfall
Match 6 - Botch VS Machine
When Botch original opponent was unable to compete, Machine voluntarily took himself out of the "Five Man Frenzy" in order to face his old partner.
WWA fans were treated to an unbelievable power match, as two true monsters battled each other in the ring. For one of the few times in his career, Machine was actually overpowered by the Minister of Rage. However, when Botch attempted to end the match with the fearsome Concussion Bomb, Machine was able to counter with a thunderous spinebuster for the victory.
WINNER - Machine via Pinfall
After the smoke had cleared, Botch took the microphone and informed WWA fans that due to personal reasons, he would have to retire from competing in Wicked Wrestling. Before leaving the ring, however, he took the time to thank the fans for their support, and encouraged them to continue to back Wicked Wrestling. As Botch left the ring for the last time, he was showered with cheers of thanks from the people.
The entire WWA roster, both in front of the curtain and behind it, would like to thank Botch and wish him Godspeed.
Main Event - Tristan Hayze VS Spike Dudley Tables Match for the WWA Championship
In retaliation for Tristan Hayze attempting to pass off newcomer Gilbert Lewis as his former alter-ego Malakim at our last show, Melissa Storm contacted former WWE and TNA Superstar Spike Dudley to come to Wicked Wrestling and challenge for the WWA Title. In a strange counter, Hayze demanded the match be a Tables Match, long regarded a specialty of Dudley's.
The match started off in a brutal fashion, as Spike wasted no time in bringing some of his Extreme Experience to the forefront, battering the champion all over the building. However, Hayze showed the tenacity that has made him champion and infuriated fans, giving as good as he got.
It seemed as though a new champion would be crowned when Spike managed to superplex Hayze through a table, but the official had been knocked out of the ring moments before. Seizing the opportunity, The Urban Freebirds stormed the ring and attacked Spike before switching his body with Hayze's in the table wreckage. Returning to the ring, the official had no choice but to call it as he saw it, and award the match Tristan Haze.
WINNER & STILL WWA CHAMPION - "The Regulator" Tristan Hayze
