SHIMMER - WOMEN ATHLETES filmed Volumes 17 & 18 of its DVD series on Saturday, April 26th, 2008 at the Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL. Here's what went down...
***PRE-SHOW**
1. ALLISON DANGER def. CAT POWER with the Old School Expulsion.
***VOLUME 17***
1. RAIN & JETTA of the International Home Wrecking Crew def. DANYAH & "Girl Dynamite" JENNIFER BLAKE when Jetta hit the Stranglehold Lungblower on Danyah and rolled it over for the submission victory.
2. SHARK GIRL def. NICOLE MATTHEWS with a knee to the face.
3. "The Experience" LEXIE FYFE & MALIA HOSAKA def. NEVAEH & ASHLEY LANE following a double team pedigree.
4. AMBER O'NEAL def. LORELEI LEE via rollup with a bridge.
5. DAIZEE HAZE def. "The Definition of Technician" CINDY ROGERS.
6. "Portuguese Princess" ARIEL def. AMAZING KONG via disqualification when Kong grew increasingly frustrated with referee LAURA MATTANO and gave her a powerbomb. Senior referee BRYCE REMSBURG and and other referees immediately hit the ring and told Kong that if she ever touches another SHIMMER official, she will be fined and suspended. Remsburg then awarded the DQ victory to Ariel.
7. "The Latina Sensation" MERCEDES MARTINEZ def. "The Croatian Panther" WESNA BUSIC with a Saito suplex/fisherman buster combo. The two shook hands in a sign of respect after the match. REBECCA BAYLESS then conducted an in-ring interview with Martinez, congratulating her on the victory in her return to SHIMMER competition. Martinez said that if she hadn't been on the injured list for the past year, she feels she would have been the first SHIMMER Champion. Martinez said that she is back and is focused on Sara Del Rey's SHIMMER Championship.
8. "Dark Angel" SARAH STOCK def. LACEY following the tiger driver.
9. MsCHIF & CHEERLEADER MELISSA def. "The Dangerous Angels" SARA DEL REY & ALLISON DANGER in the main event of Volume 17. During the closing moments of the bout, MsChif and Melissa hit the Air Raid Crash/Quebrada combo on Del Rey, only for Danger to break up the pin attempt that followed. Melissa and Danger brawled to the other side of the ring, occupying referee BRYCE REMSBURG, as MsChif picked Del Rey back up and gave her the Desecrator. As MsChif went for the cover, the crowd counted along with her as she had Del Rey down for over five seconds, but the referee wasn't in position to make the count. Finally MsChif got Remsburg's attention, only for Danger to again break up the pin. Danger rolled a lifeless Del Rey to their corner and tagged herself in, only to shortly thereafter fall victim to Melissa's Air Raid Crash herself and be pinned.
***VOLUME 18***
1. SHARK GIRL def. AMBER O'NEAL with a stunner.
REBECCA BAYLESS brought out MsCHIF for an in-ring interview. MsChif pointed out that in the main event of Volume 17, after hitting the Desecrator on Sara Del Rey, she had the SHIMMER Champion pinned for more than three seconds. She then called Del Rey out to the ring. Sara came out, and said that as a fighting champion, she will give MsChif a title shot in the main event of Volume 18.
2. NICOLE MATTHEWS def. LORELEI LEE following Last Rites.
3. DAIZEE HAZE def. JETTA following the Mind Trip.
REBECCA BAYLESS brought ALLISON DANGER out for an in-ring interview. With her arm in a makeshift sling, Danger informed the fans that she suffered a fractured collarbone as a result of the Air Raid Crash of CHEERLEADER MELISSA, and will be out of action for the next few months as a result. Danger pointed out that pro wrestling is a very high risk and physical sport, and that she will still be an active part of SHIMMER in a non-wrestling capacity during her recovery period.
4. "The Experience" LEXIE FYFE & MALIA HOSAKA def. DANYAH & "Girl Dynamite" JENNIFER BLAKE after hitting the double team Gourdbuster on Blake.
5. "Portuguese Princess" ARIEL def. CAT POWER following the Dariel.
6. "The Latina Sensation" MERCEDES MARTINEZ def. "The Definition of Technician" CINDY ROGERS.
7. NEVAEH & ASHLEY LANE def. "The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew" LACEY & RAIN in an upset victory following a flatliner/Yakuza kick double team on Rain.
8. AMAZING KONG def. "The Croatian Panther" WESNA BUSIC. Both women earned a standing ovation from the fans in attendance.
9. CHEERLEADER MELISSA def. "Dark Angel" SARAH STOCK following the Kudoh Driver.
10. MsCHIF def. "The American Angel" SARA DEL REY following the Desecrator in the main event of Volume 18 to become the 2nd SHIMMER Champion.
