GALLI - 6/20/08 - Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville
the ring was set-up on the ice, with no ringside seats
1) John Ainsworth defeated Concussion Casselley
- I know they are working hard, but it's kinda tough to take a match seriously when the participants look like they are still in High School. It might not be a bad idea to find masked personas for theses guys. Maybe they already have them?
2) Tony Scarpone vs Negrotistico - DDQ
- too much comedy for two of the better workers on the show. Both guys seemed to be working as heels/rudos. Not bad, not great either
3) El Tornado defeated Nemesis
- El Tornado worked heel/rudo and was pretty good, he worked the crowd and made some nice moves
4) El Chilango & Intrepid defeated El Emperador & Resistencia
- Chilango & Intrepid were the technicos/faces, which was surprising because I have only seen Chilango as a rudo. Chilango in particular stood out in this match
5) Slayer & Silueta Dorada defeated Funebre & Blade
- probably the best match of the night. Blade stood out working the rudo shtick. Several times he got into it with fans and would walk onto the ice and fall, but at least it kept you into the match.
- Sileuta did a leaping spot on Blade, from the top rope to the ice! Falling on ice is bad enough, leaping on it from the ropes is nuts - both guys deserve props for that.
6) Meteoro I&II & Samuray defeated Guerillero, Pentegano Del Inferno & Gringo Loco
- a good match, kinda crazy. Guerillero's mini was at ringside and got involved a few times, which was entertaining
- 1st time I've seen Samuray, and he was pretty exciting. Gringo Loco again stands out as a very good rudo
7) Coco Black, Coco Orange, & Coco Green defeated Quinto Sol, Golden Star & El Tigre
- Cocos had a female valet who was involved in the match alot. She was pretty captivating at times.
- I can't say any of the workers looked weak here, everyone had a nice match
1st fall went to the Technicos, 2nd and 3rd to the Cocos
- match did get kind of silly, as the Cocos valet was pinning all of the technicos for the final fall, even referee La Vaca, but what can you expect from a match with evil clowns in it
*
overall a good show - it did start 1/2 hour late, which was a bit much and the show was not too long, started at 7:30, & it was over just before 10
attendance wasn't quite 100 from my count, which is a bit frustrating as I have seen 2 GALLI shows and both have been worth the $15 (1st was at the Odeum, and had nearly 300)
one thing I think they should do is have the ring announcer announce in both Spanish and English - they also could use a better sound system - as both shows it was real tough to understand anything the announcer was saying
