i was happy gringo wasn't there. The crowd was bad all night minus priest/chander, the whipping and picked up during the main event. The ending to Boz/Ego was really weird and the Lawrence/Gowen thing was also weird. The undercard was ok, but what made the show was the 2 big matches

It was a show that delivered in the main event matches, and was a show that you know will be topped in future.

This show had it's ups and downs but overall it was still better than anyone else can put on. The low points were Boz/Ego and the confusion it caused and the confusion during the Raymond/Silas match. The high points were Priest Tyler and the whipping angle. Those matches were some of the best that AAW has put on. Just fantastic

I must be in the minority, but I really didn't enjoy this show. The crowd was really strange, as it seemed like 1/4 (by the bar) was really excited and into everything (especially doing a dance while chanting Tyler Black's name, which was awesome!), 1/4 (by the door) was making smartass comments and heckling, the group by the camera seemed pretty quiet and the 4th side was a mixture of the other three. That said, the crowd kept me entertained, so that's a plus and I can't knock us (since I was a part of the crowd) It may be strange to watch on tape though.
Before I get too negative though, I just feel the need to point out that every wrestler worked hard and tried to give the audience a good show. Tons of effort from everyone and bravo for that.
That said, the first half of the show was brutal. Two matches ended with a wrestler just walking to the back for no real reason. Boz was killing Ego then decided to leave...what? Josh was beating Silas for 3/4 of the match, Silas made a come back, Josh was good enough to slide out of the ring to avoid the headstand-finisher and then walked to the back. Then after quitting, he tried to sneak attack Silas and got beaten up. I didn't get it then and it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Pregnancy in wrestling angles is always a bad idea and it was right around this point that the show became pretty much impossible for me to like, which was sad because this was right before the Priest match.
And that was the tipping point. Why do you build something up as someone's big retirement, have all kinds of crazy stuff happen (barbed wire, ladders, tables) a very good fight, and then have it end with a goofy finish where the retiring hero loses when Chandler's lackey sweeps his leg. The reason this finish worked 2 weeks ago in ROH is becuase it was Chris Hero beating Pelle Pri...something. If it has been Hero's retirement match and Pelle won when, let's say some guy from the crowd swept Hero's leg, it would have been comparable. On the plus side, Priest's speech was very heartfelt and I believed that he meant everything he said.
Jumping back, after Boz walked out Ego whined to Billy Whack about not getting a title shot and then beat him up. After intermission, Ego called out Boz, took a nasty lariat from him and then pinned Boz in thirty-some seconds. I don't get it. Maybe this was all built from something that happened before, but this was my first AAW show and it made no sense.
Lynn/Black was a good match. Not as great as I was hoping, but a fun match with a good clean finish.
Side Question: Is AAW a fed where every match is No DQ? I ask because during the tag title match, Tyler Black came into the ring and beat up Danny and Trik right in front of the referee and nothing happened. Again, I'm new to AAW so maybe this all makes sense, but I'm just not entirely sure.
And to end on a positive note, Joey Eastman has become great. I don't know when it happened, but he's incredibly entertaining and evil. Joey after the Twins/NSE match was fantastic. Also, Mason Beck is a great man and has the best bit ever, as he's the most loved and cheered for bad guy in wrestling and hates the crowd for it. Great, great stuff.

i agree with the show be very confusing at the begining when there was a forfit in the ego/boz match then a tyler black attack trick and daniels in front of the ref and there was no dq when i think in prevous shows there would have been a dq then another forfit again in the silas/raymond match and i started to think maybe i should get my money back if this is going to happen all night. but the show pick up expectly at the end with made u forget all about the bs at the begining and i kind of knew before i came that priest match would end that way so i didnt care

Just so there is clarification, there ARE no DQs in the match unless you rough up a ref. Think 1995 ECW.

If you listen to our show, you know I'm very pro AAW, but last night was not the best show they have ever done.
Positives[/u]
Eric Priest has been an institution in Chicago pro wrestling for 10 years. Last night, he received the send off he rightfully deserved. To the fans showing their respect throwing streamers. To giving the fans his introduction one more time (and everyone including workers and staff saying every word with him). To an absolutely exceptional professional wrestling match with Chandler McClure. In no way shape or form should Chandler be taken as a joke anymore. He was simply superb in his role last night. While I would have preferred a different finish, it elevated Jordan McIntyre into someone who needs to be taken seriously. The Chandler/McIntyre team is outstanding. Simply wonderful performance by all three men in this match. Priest's speech was also great. Thank you Eric Priest.
Tyler Black won the title in one of the fastest paced matches I have ever seen. The torch has been passed and it is Tyler's time to shine as one of the absolute best pro wrestling has to offer today.
While the show was built around Tyler and Priest, the show stealer came with the tag match - Northstar Express vs. Phoenix Twins. The match was very good, especially because we all know that there will be rematch. The five performers in this storyline did not give everything away. They only gave the people a sample of what will be seen in the future.
The big story of the night was after the match. The loser was to receive 10 lashes. Joey Eastman made Dash whip Tweek. At first, the Twins refused to do it and even started to give a half assed whip. However, PJ Drummond (who was also excellent in his role as rule enforcer) refused to count those and Dash proceeded to lash Tweek. After the first lash, you could see the pain in Dash's eye having to whip his own brother, who of course, was in a great deal of pain. Every whip got harder for Dash to do and the emotion coming from the ring was at a fever pitch. All the while, Joey Eastman was on the microphone laughing. What an not a very nice person...I mean, the guy was laughing as brother had to whip brother. As a fan of AAW, I now hate Joey Eastman for what he did last night. As soon as the tenth lash was given, Dash threw down the belt and lunged for Eastman. From where I was sitting, I could see the hate in Dash's eyes and how he wanted to kill Joey at that time. The NSE, Mason Beck (who was very good in his role but needs a little work), and Joey started to beat down Dash. The segment was absolutely perfect. Tweek, Dash, Joey, Cruz, Corbin, Beck, PJ, and Andy Long all made this segment the absolute best sports entertainment angle I have seen in quite some time. This is by far AAW's hottest angle. I cannot wait to see the Twins get their hands on Joey, and I hope they make the fans wait a little. To the tops at AAW, PLEASE do not pull the trigger on this just to do it. Let it play out. This is the money feud right now. Exceptional job by all.
Negatives
The total confusion caused by the ending of the Boz-Ego match kinda roughed up the whole crowd the rest of the night. The reasoning hasn't been mentioned and I think it should as it would make a lot more sense to people. Boz had a medical emergency and needed to end the match immediately. My guess is that when they came back out for the finish in the second half, it might have been done for the DVD...
AOD vs. Trik/Danny was a....uhh....strange match. As people have said already, why there was no DQ after blatant interference was weird. I didn't like that.
The Josh/Silas match was very good, but after the sudden forfeit ending to the Boz/Ego match and then Josh walking out left a very sour taste in the fans' minds. Val is pregnant and this will probably end up fueling a nice, long Josh/Silas feud.
The Lawrence/Truth/Zach angle was utterly confusing. First Dan turns on Zach and seemingly joins Truth. Then Truth turns on Dan and aligns himself with Zach. Then they cut Dan's hair. Huh? Why should the fans like Dan now? Hopefully it will be explained.
Overall
The show, as said, was not the best AAW has ever put on, but I am willing to bet that it is still the top product in the area. This is an absolute must buy DVD, not only for Tyler's win and Priest's retirement, but for the exquisitely perfect Twins-NSE-Joey whipping angle. F*cking amazing.
