Unfortunately, I don't think Milt Pappas will be there as he passed away yesterday. R.I.P. I am glad I was able to meet and talk to him a few times over the years. He seemed like a good guy.

Even though I was unfamiliar with many of the guys on POWW's roster, I still had a good time at Saturday's show. I hope to make it to another show soon. Congrats to the new champ, Joey Cece.

It is always good to head to a UWE show in Michigan. The after-intermission matches were all good and my hearing is back to normal after enduring the pre-show noise.

My opinion--the first half of the show was ARW great! However, after intermission, things bogged down quickly. The first match was a great way to start the show. Willie the Bomb is over with the Lake Station fans, and I always enjoy seeing him work. Machine carried his match quite well. Hadn't seen him in awhile and was surprised as to how much weight he had lost. Now he's a scary average-sized guy. As to Johnny Showtime getting busted open--I disagree and so would many in attendance. We could clearly see him blade himself while on the mat. It was too obvious, even to some kids sitting near me. Not an effective way to accomplish that. Plus nothing else was going on at the time to distract the fans from watching Showtime unwrap the tape and cut his forehead. My vote for match of the night was Mr. 450 vs. Zain Ramzey. A ton of back and forth with both guys putting on some great moves. What should have been the best match was just before intermission--If Looks Could Kill vs. Hardcore Impact. It was an awesome match, but the four guys spent several minutes before the match with a ton of nonsense that had me pretty well disinterested before the wrestling started. Once the wrestling did begin, it was a great match. The first match after intermission was a real shame. Two good workers, Dante DVS and Marcus Portrait, had all the match's momentum stalled by the antics of Barbie Sunshine. I was a big Sunshine mark 10 years ago when she managed J.T. Sexy, but this was a sad misuse of her talents. The Mike Anthony-Skull Murphy match had many fans (myself included) heckling the wrestlers as it was boring beyond belief. The stupid ending was Murphy rolling out of the ring and leaving. Not many, however, were too upset that he exited in that fashion as it brought an end to a match that was painful to watch. The final match was bad for so many reasons. The conclusion of the match was screwed up. It made no sense to me at all to have Showtime run into the ring and attack both wrestlers. So, not one clean finish after intermission.
I'm sure I'll go back, but not nearly as excited as I was after the last show. I hope ARW will do better.

Don't know which is better--the return of Tommy Capone to POWW or the return of the Illinois Kid to a wrestling board. Both are good. Kid, since you are retiring in about 20 months or so, perhaps you should join the world of wrestling as a ref--just think, you would probably be the first to go from working the IESA basketball state finals to counting the old 1-2-3. Gary Grankhe would be proud!

Oh, the original M.O.B. guys go at it. Glad to see Tommy coming back! Perhaps Thomas Gunn could come in from the highlands of Scotland to ref.

Sorry to hear about Acid's retirement, but glad that he had sense enough to get out before he suffered any permanent damage. Best of luck to him, and thanks for all the fine matches over the years.

Deja Vu--is that where the after show party is? Doubt they have $1 beers though!

I figure either someone of importance heard the interview or Ian couldn't get the night off from Taco Bell.
Clarksville has a bad memory for me. In 1999, just a couple of months before moving to Chicagoland, I drove 4 hours to Clarksville to see either Pondo or Pete Madden--I don't remember which. When I arrived, there was a sheet of paper on the entrance to the gym that said "Show Canceled." I wasn't too happy on the long trip home.

Sorry that I'll miss this show. NWWA provides some of my favorite wrestling, and I do appreciate their work. Maybe next show!
