There's one small lot across from the gym. When I pulled into the lot, I saw some of the wrestlers getting out of a car, so I'm guessing they took up a substantial number of spots. Don't remember how many spaces, but I'm guessing around 25-30. Otherwise it's street parking, which was ample in the area. It certainly isn't a town where I would worry about the safety of my car if I hadn't made it into the lot.

13 must truly be an unlucky number--at least for the IWA.

Who in their right mind would drive all the way from Chicago to Gladwin, Michigan to see a wrestling show? As to Eric Freedom, I've seen him wrestle more times than either he or I would care to count. I can honestly say that I have only seen him in one match that I though was really bad, and that was from a show in the north suburbs where he was in the most awful 6 man match that I've seen. Otherwise, he has always been one of my favorites. He usually has the crowd either loudly for or against him as he plays the role of a face and a heel equally well. I didn't see the matches indyfan spoke of, so I can't disagree there. It's just that Freedom has impressed me time and again with his work. The matches he and Jimmy Blaze had against the Cocky Little Brats were some of my favorites. The cage match he and Foresaken had was also memorable. But, to each his own. Starman (yes, I'll be in Gladwin) has spoken.

Yes his son was in prison. I work with a guy who used to be his case manager while he was in Pendleton, I believe. He said he got to talk to Bruiser's wife several times.

For awhile, there were many main events at indy shows in Indiana that were Dick the Bruiser, Jr. vs. Bobo Brazil, Jr. I actually sat through two of those painful-to-watch matchups. I think that's why I left Indiana. ;D
Sorry to hear that the show was canceled. Not surprised, though, with the forecast the way that it is.
I remember those trips to Springs Valley for Powerhouse shows. A crowd of 23 for one show. My all time low turnout until a show I went to in Indiana a couple of summers ago. Hopefully, the crowd will be better for this show.

My first IWA-MS show in far too long. I had a blast. With the exception of the Tracey Smothers 40 minutes of b.s. match, I thought all of the matches were entertaining. The main event was as good of a match as I've seen in a long, long time. It truly did remind me of some of the DVD's I've seen of older IWA shows. I also really liked the first match, the Scorpio-Callahan match, and, hell, I liked each of the others in its own way. The thing I remember from the last IWA show I attended was that the matches all seemed the same. The workers were built the same and did similar moves. It wasn't that way this time. I thought they had a nice variety, from the guys working a lot off of the top ropes, to the more bruising matches with fists flying. I truly found this show to be one of the better ones I've seen in a long time. This was also the first time I had been to this particular building in Portage, Indiana. It was ideal for a wrestling show. Ceiling is extremely high--nothing to worry about there. I'm sure that it could easily hold 1,000 people if needed. Unfortunately, Ian announced the crowd at 52. Where have I heard that number before? Hmmm. . . I have to believe that those in attendance had a wonderful time. I know I did. Thanks IWA-MidSouth.

A question--is the phone number on the poster correct, or is the number in the blurb the correct one?

I hope that I'm not one of those internet SMARKS you referred to, Tony. ;D But, that being said, that IS how I found out about the show--on this site as well as receiving a myspace message or two. Had a good time at the show yesterday afternoon. However, I don't think they should let Freedom work at outdoor shows. At least not without a lot of fly strips around the ring. Heck, the show was on the 24th, and we all know he only showers on the first of each month. I was sitting downwind, and it wasn't a good aroma. On Memorial Day weekend, it was interesting to hear fans yell, "Freedom sucks." It was great to see "Crusher" Lyle back in the ring. However, my vote for match of the night would be the Popular Electronics tag match. Hype and Gameboy get a lot of heel heat by both their words and their actions. All too often, I see "heels" do nothing but make fun of the fans. Hype and GB have their act down very nicely. I certainly want to make it to the June show. Two things will help determine that--gas prices and the weather. Great to see Powerhouse make a triumphant return. They've been away too long. Starman has spoken.

No, that's the way Rex Hart was counting when he was the guest ref in the main event. . . 1, 2, 5. He just couldn't seem to find three! ;D

IMO, out of the seven matches, five were very good while two were bad. Even one of the painful-to-watch matches had some comic relief in it. The attendance was right on. I counted 105 at the end of intermission. In attendance were two Chicagoland wrestling legends--Pledge Jones and Carl Morris. I'll bet if Sen. Clinton had known those two were going to be in Valpo that night, she might have hung around town for the show. Better than boozing it up in Crown Point. Starman has spoken.

Too bad Forsaken is retiring. I always thought he was one of the best at being a heel. Good luck to him.
