I have never heard the Mike Rapada rumor. That's why I asked who your sources were. Yes Coca Cola struck a deal with the NWA regarding advertising money since we had the belt on Blue Demon, and it enhanced the business they were doing with him. But that came way after he had the belt. Never was it a part of him keeping, or holding the belt. We don't sell our titles. Yes that is what matters. The Sheik is a helluva talent, and well worth seeing live & in person. It's a real shame the fans of this area won't be seeing Demon & the Sheik lockup. It would have been a great match. One thing fans can see is the Sheik & Silas Young in Ashton, IL on Oct 23rd.

Well thank you, Mr Chuman, I like nice professional answers to my questions. How does the NWA board decide on NWA title changes, Steve Corino said in an interview once the board voted 5-4 for him, because they didnt think he would be good for the title... who is the board.. and how does one decided on the vote?

Mike Rapada kind of looked like the lead singer of the Georgia Satellites, of "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" fame, therefore I cannot hate on him.

Now we have an Executive Director that's been making those decisions. There's talk of a committee of which I'm supposed to be a part of. Nothing has been decided about that as of the moment, and who knows if that will happen.
Rapada was a really nice guy, and under rated IMO. When I 1st saw him he was a fair wrestler, and became quite good in a short period of time while he held the belt. I can see where you'd compare his look to the GS singer.

I forgot to answer your question regarding the NWA BOD. It's a 5 man elected board. serving under the Executive Director, our head lawyer Bob Trobich. Bob has been the lawyer for the NWA since the early 1980's. Bob has certain Executive powers such as entering into agreements on the NWA's behalf. The Big Vision deal, and the Coca Cola deal to name a few. Bob makes the championship decisions at the moment. As I said above there may end up to be a committee that shares that responsibility with him. The entire membership votes on certain issues, but the day to day running of the LLC is left to Bob. Members of the BOD serve to assist Bob in certain matters as he needs them to. At the moment the BOD consists of Rick O'Brien (VA), Mike Porter (TN), Fred Rubinstein (NY & NJ), Bill Behrens (GA & AL) Ken Taylor (TX & OK). I was on the BOD for 7 years. I was elected last year to serve another 2 year term, but left right around the 1st of the year for health reasons. Ken Taylor took over for me at that point.
Corrino at the time was considered a very good wrestler, but the problem people had with him was his look. He was thin, and didn't have that "Wrestler" look. As his reign progressed he more then made up for that with his work. In fact he was responsible for one of the biggest angles the NWA did in it's early rebuilding period with Ogawa in Tampa, FL. Currently he is my NWA Heartland States champion. He defends that title tonight against Dinti Moore at NWA Brew City in WI.
I should also mention that Joey Eastman does a great job managing the Sheik. All who know Joey know what he brings to the table in terms of his hate abilities. To see the 2 of them together is a delight for a promoter like me who appreciates the old & new school of this business. They compliment each other perfectly.

Anyone know now that NWA is no longer involved with the show will pricing remain the same? Will it be the same undercard? and for that matter what is the undercard?

No certain talent won"t be there. Silas Young, Rasche The Skull Krusher, Ms Chif, Nicole Matthews, The Sheik, Joey Eastman & the two guys from the East Coast Arion & Tagan won't be appearing. From what I understand The Blue Demon will wrestle. I assume some of the Latin Talent we had booked will appear, but I shouldn't mention who they are as the booking of this show is no longer my concern. I do hope they have a good house, and a great show.

I almost don't feel like going now. I don't want to pay my money and wind up seeing a bunch of guys I know won't give me my money's worth. The other consideration is who will be Demon's opponent. Again I'm not eager to pay to see Demon take on a local.

I have received word that there will be no show on October 24th at the Cicero stadium. Yet another disappointment for Chicago lucha fans but at least this time it happened before any fans paid their money. Hopefully next time.

Ok this is getting weird...I got a report alittle while ago stating that SPECTACULAR ENTERTAINMENT might try to salvage this show with some other people. At this point I highly doubt it can even be considered the same show anymore...also getting some news that instead of the show being held on this date it will be held the week after and perhaps at a different venue. All I can say is good luck to anyone attempting to salvage this situation.

In fact he was responsible for one of the biggest angles the NWA did in it's early rebuilding period with Ogawa in Tampa, FL. You're confusing Ogawa for Hashimoto (RIP). The NWA Lucha Chicago myspace is down, as well.

This is like an old Three Stooges flick!!!I luv it. People in the entertainment biz just usually cant see eye to eye. Look at guys like Chuman, me, (etc, etc) I love Ed, but sometimes he can take the fun out of things and get too wrapped up in fairly simple stuff yet is as always a huge asset, just gotta weigh things out.
