Lot of negative reaction to this even on the IWA board.
Ian owes fans money. Not wrestlers, promoters, or buildings, FANS. Because he used money for tickets for upcoming shows to cover costs, then closed down before those shows could happen. Why does he think he can make THAT money back AND support his family on something that lost him money just a few months ago?
IWA is what got me into indy wrestling. But the inability to book guys on a consistent basis and thus deliver on storylines, in addition to leaving Midlothian, and the constant negative comments from Ian and Fannin towards their fans and wrestlers who worked for them......it soured me on it. And I don't plan on going back.

If Ian ran a show and took all of the fans money at the door and then proceeded to go out the back door and leave everyone sitting there, he would come back a few months later and some people STILL would defend him. I swear to God, this is a time warp. I remember from the old board when he was pulling this sh*t and years later, people are still saying "forget what Ian has done...support Indy wrestling" This b*llsh*t about him needing to support his family can also be said about stick-up men.

The IWA has brought a lot of great wrestling and enjoyable shows to the area. However, I see a similarity between Ian Rotten and Brett Favre. "Will I retire or won't I?" and "Will we close down or won't we?" It gets old rather quickly. Still I hope both have success. Strange, I know, but I pull for both of them.

All I can say is how can one run a show where the fans pay to see the show to raise money to pay back the fans who didnt get to see a show? In other words the fans are paying to get their money back? ?? WTF!!!!

In the immortal words of PT Barnum..."nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people". it will be very interesting to see how many people will show up for this farce.

I may show up for the farce just for the sheer trainwreck appeal of it.

I rarely agree with Pete, but Ian is pulling the same sh*t over and over again. I couldn't really get behind his product anymore.

people need to understand that ian is only trying to help here... as a fan, you have to also understand that ian is only human... people single him out as though he's satan himself but 95% of promoters out there probably do a hell of a lot worse and get no flack... give him a chance and see what becomes of it... also, if you haven't been hurt by his actions, then why do you need to be up in arms about it?

If this show is supposed to be to raise money to pay the fans back does that mean the workers are doing it for free? Seriously IWA is such a shadow of what it used to be it's depressing.

if you haven't been hurt by his actions, then why do you need to be up in arms about it? First of all to toss out a comment that 95% of other fed owners have done worse without one shred of evidence and proof is a huge slap in the face to every fed out there. Name the 5% that have not done worse than Ian. It can't be more than two feds. Who are they? Why do I need to be up in arms over it? Because people like that put a stink on the whole business, that's why

Well to tell the truth disgruntled fan is right most indy promoters are shady. Sorry to tell all the fans including myself we as fans shouldnt care what goes on behind the scenes it should be the wrestling. Does the show entertain you do you have a good time going to the show. Pete seems to me that there are some people who still enjoy what IWA puts on.
Also dont we all read on the dirt sheets of the horror stories that Vinnie Mac has done to the wrestlers and the fans come on people this sport started in the carnival you will never take that away plain and simple it will never be a respected sport. Wrestlers will always complain about crappy paydays. Fans will always b*tch and moan about not getting what they paid for. To all that are belly aching about this start your own promotion and try to run it. It takes real passion to entertain and guess what as much as Ian gets sh*t on he continues to comeback time and time again to entertain us and for that I am grateful because none of you are doing it.
