CLPW once again rocked the Stratford Banquet Hall in Harvard, IL with an incredible show last Saturday evening (1/23). The entire CLPW Village plus many new fans were treated to a night of great wrestling. It appeared to be CLPW's largest crowd. It was an exciting atmosphere that CLPW is always willing to provide. I'm just a loyal fan so I might be off a little on some of the results. There were also a few new wrestlers making their CLPW debut so I might not have caught all the names.
1. Opening contest had a triple threat match between hot new-comer Texas Pete from Oregon, Indiana legend "Bull" Don Basher & another new face dressed in blue whose name I didn't catch. Good opening contest to draw the fans with Mr. Basher using his experience to prevail.
2. Johnny Armonni, wrestling twice, took on arch-rival Nick H. ( my top-notch Anchovie's Corner co-host) in the battle of "The Skinny Guys". Nick H. refused help from his protoge Thunderfoot and wrestled without anyone in his corner. Nick H. gave Armonni a wrestling lesson and scored the pinfall. Thunderfoot would come back with new manager Ryland Foxx to attack Nick H.
3. Thunderfoot with new manager Ryland Foxx defended the CLPW Light HeavyWeight Championship against J. T. Simmons. The fans were treated to a great title match with Simmons becoming the new title-holder.
4. A ladies triple-threat match got the crowd cheering. The lovely December vs Juliet the Huntress vs newcomer Mia Martinez. These ladies gave a great outing and didn't hold anything back. Mia scored her first CLPW victory. Phoenix, the new head of the womens division did a great job by bringing in Ms. Martinez.
5. CLPW's hottest youngster and Pro-X Champion Jason Kross wrestled Irish Anderson in one of CLPW's top feuds. Anderson was DQed for blasting Kross with the title.
6. This match was to crown a new #1 contender for the CLPW Championship. Joey "The Pibull" Cece, who had the historic CLPW debut last October wrestled another fresh face in Diego Corleone. With the crowd behind The Pitbull all the way, Joey Cece became the new #1 contender.
7. The CLPW Champion with new manager Marco Polo (Sorry to Howie) took on challenger and indy sensation "He's All That" Steve Boz. A cheap, bogus DQ was the only way Double-G could get past Boz. The CLPW Village was upset with the outcome except for some fedora wearing goof in the front row.
*****************Intermission break to set up the steel cage and announce special guest of the evening Diamond Dallas Page***********************************************
8. "Classic Chris Hamilton & The Trademark challenged the maniacal Jarrod Priest and Johnny Armonni for the vacant CLPW Tag Team Championship in the first of two steel cage matches. Both Priest and Hamilton ended up hand-cuffed by the ropes. Trademark won the straps for his team by pinning Armonni.
9. The main event featured two Chicago legends in Frank "The Tank" Melson and "The Diceman" Ronnie Vegas with Nick H. as the in-ring referee and DDP as special guest outside referee. This was just a classic brawl in the cage. The Tank was busted up early but never gave up. Vegas was introduced to the steel door by DDP while attempting to exit the cage. The mighty Tank scored the win with a big splash.
After the match, Armonni came in to argue only to receive a first-rate Diamond Cutter by DDP. That was a good thing! The CLPW Village was in a frenzy. Hats off to CLPW for a great show!
CLPW returns to Harvard in April with a date TBA. Jason Kross and Irish Anderson once again will meet for the Pro-X Championship in a no-dq match. Steve Boz will put his WAR Championship up against Double-G's CLPW Championship in a title vs title match.
