I asked because it's the same reason that would scare me away from a japanese show. Sure this is in America, you would have to pay in american currency and the like, I wouldn't want to feel like the odd man out here. Same thing goes for something like UAPW, makes me wonder if I'd stick out.I may get edited or even banned for what I am about to say but I just got really pissed. WHAT KIND OF RANK ASS MONKEY ASS BULLSH*T STATEMENT WAS THAT ! !!! Let me guess you assume that everywhere UAPW or a hispanic promotion runs a show you would be in the presence of some sort of lurking danger? I am inclined to say that the ignorance of some people and the narrow closed minds about other races is just utterly ridiculous. And to think I started going back to church to get myself in order.

give jpecard a break, alot of people i talk to say similar things. they dont mean anything bad by it and you can tell he doesn't. however with the reactions jpecard keeps getting im surprized any of you could be offended. I think its ridiculous on both sides of this one. I think you all should react more reassuringly instead of attacking the boy for asking about somthing he is obviously concerned over. in perticular a language barrier as many of you well know can be quite a deterrant. I stand by what i said though the Spoken portion of any Wrestling show is usually mediocre at best so it doesn't matter. If you don't know what they are saying you should still get an idea by their tone and actions as to what they mean and what is happening, if you do not get it then just enjoy the Lucha Action and Smile Barbarian smile.

Has anyone seen any publicity on this?I called some friends that live near 26th street and they claimed not to have seen any publicity for this yet.In fact they didn't even know about the show until I told them about it.I have to be honest and say that without any publicity it can be a repeat of last show's low attendance, probably lower.

I'll be there for my first lucha experience. I'm bringing my Mexican girlfriend who will hopefully explain things to me if I get confused.

i've been to two Lucha shows @ Congress thus far. this one show way earlier in the year that had a VERY low turnout...maybe around the 200 range if at that, and the matches were kinda weak. only wrestler i remember from that card was the guy dressed like a mummy. not as cool looking in person as he was on the promo poster lol.
second show was one of the last ones at Congress...the one where it was free, but you had to sit up in the balcony (you had to pay to sit on the floor/ringside). didn't stay for the entire thing, but it was a better ex...lots more people, a more pumped up atmosphere, better matches. but yea, the late start times and the long breaks kind of suck.
i dunno though...first lucha show of the year. i may go to this.

The first show you described was the one put on by Jose Luis Rosales. He uses for the most part another group of wrestlers.I would have calculated the turnout to be lower.
As for the late start times they have been striving to fix this problem. Many of the more recent lucha shows have definately had a much more timelier start so progress is being made.

January 21 is the date for wrestling show at Congress Teatro, according with the promoters they get Ra yo de Jalisco, Mil Mascaras, Dos Caras Jr, super Astro plus local talent, next week they confirm the matches does anyone know if the luchalbre is still going on at the congress theatre ? because i cant find it posted anywhere. and should i get tix in advance or go to the venue itself and buy tickets there?
